What To Expect At Your First Dentist Appointment

If you are scheduling your first appointment with Larsen Family Dental, make sure you fill out the appropriate patient forms. You should fill out forms for your children as well if you plan on bringing them in for an appointment. Our goal is to make your first dentist appointment as comfortable as possible. Our team is welcoming and happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Here are some common questions we get regarding patients’ first dentist appointment.

What are some signs that I need to visit the dentist?

We recommend visiting the dentist once every six months regardless of if you have any negative symptoms. Most dental issues can be resolved early on, and only get worse over time if left untreated. However, if you have experienced recent tooth loss, tooth pain, tooth sensitivity, receding gums, or dry mouth, it is definitely time to make your next appointment.

What happens during a routine dentist appointment?

You will be asked about your previous dental care, including any oral procedures you’ve had. Then, your mouth will be examined and cleaned by a hygienist and Dr. Larsen. If any issues are found, you will be presented with the appropriate treatment plans necessary to resolve them.

How soon should I make my child’s first dentist appointment?

You should make your child’s first dentist appointment after the eruption of their first tooth, and no later than their first birthday. Starting your children off early with preventative dental care will offer them a lifetime of good dental health and hygiene habits.
